Hugh Jackman Says A Wolverine Deadpool Crossover Won’t Happen

The off-screen bromance between Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds has always left us wondering whether or not their on-screen superhero personas would ever get their own movie.

Well, my friends, take that dream, crumple it up, tear it into a million pieces and set fire to it because the Aussie actor says it's not going to happen.

Jackman was approached byTMZ, who asked if and when we could expect a Wolverine/Deadpool crossover and he looked dead into the camera (and our souls) and said: "Ship has sailed Ryan, sorry brother."

Literally, like the worst news ever.

Imagine the banter and action involved in a movie that comprised of two uber strong superheroes that couldn't die. They could have a standalone series that could actually last forever.

At least we know that Reynolds is always keen for the idea, with the Canadian actor tellingEntertainment Weekly: "He's alive and well in my timeline. There is a Logan running around out there with a little bushy chest and his little sharpy, sharpy claws, and he is alive and well and ready to go. I would love that."

He's referring, of course, to the idea that Wolverine died in the last film in his canon,Logan, however that movie was setwellinto the future. So, they could always do something set earlier in that universe.

Funnily enough, it was comedian Jerry Seinfeld who convinced Hugh Jackman to hang up the claws for good.

Appearing onThe Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, the actor called Seinfeld saying: "'Look, when you creating something, it's very important not to run yourself dry.

"'It's not about finishing on top necessarily, but making sure that you are creatively still have something left, which propels you into whatever is next.

"I went home, and I said, 'This is it; this is the last one'. And then the next morning, I wake up at four in the morning, and I record into a voice memo because I had this really strong idea for what to do for the last one."

He's said in the past that he couldn't believe he managed to get 17 years out of playing the angry, chip on his shoulder mutant and to be fair, the process to get shredded every time for the role would certainly take its toll.

Hopefully Hugh takes a long, hard look at himself and come to his senses that a Wolverine/Deadpool movie would be awesome.
